AN ADVANCED COURSE IN RETAIL ENTREPRENUERSHIP
A specialized programme for first-time retailers and next generation entrepreneurs
New Delhi , May 23, 2005 : After an overwhelming response received for retail programmes, the Indian Retail School (IRS) has introduced the Advanced Course in Retail Entrepreneurship - An integrated programme for first-time retail entrepreneurs and next generation entrepreneurs from traditional family-business backgrounds.
It provides skills in developing and managing your own business with a cutting edge nature and the dynamics of modern retail in India . The course is aimed at developing expertise in a diverse set of business functions. The learning process includes evaluating opportunities, understanding risk analysis, problem solving, developing a new venture marketing plan, the strategic management of growth, the development of business plans and raising of capital for launch and growth. It is a one-year programme that has three levels, constituting of 720 hours of contact classes and 240 hours of project work.
The programme is a pioneering effort in the field of manpower development, training and consultancy for the fast growing retail industry in India . Apart from the above-mentioned course, the Indian Retail School has also introduced a one-year programme leading to a Post Graduate Programme in Retail Management. A uniquely designed programme that provides knowledge and understanding of the nature and content of the retail business and develops the required critical and creative skills, while aiming at developing major functional areas like Retail Sales, Operation, Marketing, Merchandising and Management.
IRS has tied up with retail majors such as Globus, Gili, Lifestyle, Levi’s, United Colours of Benetton, Ebony, Liberty, Viveks, RPG retail and Piramyd for student placements, projects and internships.
The Indian Retail School has been established with the sole objective of making the retail industry more dynamic by providing the best practices and skills across the breadth of management roles within the industry. The Institute aims at producing talents for the developing retail industry in India .
