B.A.(Hons.) in Retail Management with Marketing
This programme provides the opportunity to gain both essential knowledge of the retail business such as the industry make-up, about how the retail sectors compete and use strategy. It also covers specialist retail modules in Marketing. The other key strand of the course builds on our experience of teaching man­agement. The course provides knowledge and skills in learning about managing people. UCLan believes that learning about management is important for graduates wanting to go into the retail industry, especially as they are given managerial responsi­bility at a very early stage of their career. The university seeks to enable its students to gain a competitive edge in pursuing mana­gerial and professional careers and to make an outstanding con­tribution to the performance of their employing organisations.
Programme Objectives
  1. To develop an understanding of different domains of knowledge and the different perspectives brought to bear in the study and practice of retail management.
  2. To enhance critical thinking and reasoning skills in the evaluation of the body of knowledge and research relating to retail management.
  3. To enhance the learner's intellectual and transferable skills, particularly with regard to retail industry knowledge and practices, presentations, research, analysis and appraisal.
  4. To develop the learner's ability to design, manage and implement a process of personal learning and development which facilitates the enhancement of key personal, social and other transferable skills.
  5. To encourage engagement in business/management research in general retail management contexts, most particularly through work based learning.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should have completed intermediate (10+2) from CBSE, ICSE or recognized state boards for Higher Secondary Education. Applicants should have aggregate 55% marks in HS Examination and 60% or more marks in English language.

Students seeking admission will have to qualify in Entrance Test conducted by Indian Retail School, followed by group discussion and interview. Admission is based strictly on merit, judged from the performance in the written examination and interview

It is important to note that the medium of teaching and communication at Indian Retail School & in UCLan is Eng­lish only. Since the course curriculum taught at Indian Retail School will be set and monitored by UCLan, students are required to possess appropriate English language competency before applying for the admission. IELTS level 6 competency in English language is a prerequisite for admission to this course.
Programme Structure
This BA (Hons) Retail Management with Marketing programme is a three year graduation course. It has three levels out of which 1st and 2nd level will be taught in India at IRS and final year (3rd level) will be delivered in Preston, UCLan, UK. This course is designed to enable the students to fit into careers in any aspect of retailing, such as inventory management, visual merchandising, store management, retail promotions & supply chain management.  This course is based on Credit System as per the UK education system. To get an award of Three years graduation programme students will have to complete 360 credits corresponding to 3600 hours of class room study and self study. Students will have to complete 120 credits in a year spread over the three levels.

This course covers specialist retail modules in Marketing besides covering other retailing modules. The key strand of the course builds on our experience of management training. The course provides knowledge and skills in learning about managing people especially in context of retail environment. UCLan believes that learning about management is important for graduates wanting to go into the retail industry, especially as they are given managerial responsibility at a very early stage of their career. The university seeks to enable its students to gain a competitive edge in pursuing managerial and professional careers and to make an outstanding contribution to the performance of their employing organisations.
