This programme in retailing is spread over two years across four semesters. The typical duration of this programme is 1200 hours constituting of 888 contact hours & 312 hours of internship project.

Semesters

Semesters 1:

Covers a total of 296 contact hours devoted to basic fundamental principles in retail consisting of the following courses:

  • Retail Basics Accounting Fundamentals
  • Fundamentals of Retail Marketing
  • Principles of Customers Relations
  • Store Functions
  • Communication & Soft Skills
Semesters 2:

Covers a total of 296 contact hours devoted to deeper understanding of the various functions in retail consisting of the following courses:

  • Fundamentals of Visual Merchandising
  • Managing Customer Relations
  • Loss Prevention
  • Managing Store Performance
  • Merchandise Knowledge
  • Fundamentals of Retail Merchandising
Semesters 3:
Covers a total of 296 contact hours devoted to focus on major functions of retail consisting of the following courses:
  • Recruitment & Training Practices
  • Technologies in Retail
  • Choice of Elections (Any two)
    • Store Operation
    • Category Management
    • Visual Merchandising
    • Retail Marketing
Semesters 4:

Covers a total of 312 hours devoted to project work which is of original contribution to knowledge in the specific chosen area of electives.

The project work aims at giving the students an opportunity to develop their skills in their chosen area of elections.

The project work should demonstrate extensive knowledge in the selected elective area with hands-on experience in a real life environment.

Procedure

How do you get selected?
If based on your application, you are found eligible, you will need to qualify in an entrance examination at or conducted by Indian Retail School, followed by group discussion and as interview. Admission is based strictly on merit, judged from your performance in the written examination and interview.
