Structure

The Post-Graduate programme in Retail Management is a one year programme that has three levels, constituting of 720 hours of contact classes and 240 hours of project work. The classes will be conducted for five days in week in each trimester, except in the last trimester where the student denotes majority time for his project work.

Trimesters

Foundation Level:

Covers foundation programmes in retail. Total of 320 contact hours are  devoted to foundation level that covers the following units:

• Retail Marketing Management
• Human Resource Management
• Retail Information Technology Management
• Retail Supply Chain Management
• Retail Buying
• Retail Merchandising
• Retail Store Operations-1

Intermediate Level:

Intermediate level covers more advance subjects. Total of 300 hours are devoted to the intermediate level that covers the following units:

• Services Marketing & Customer Relationship Management
• Retail Store Operations-II
• Financial Management
• Retail Strategy
• Applied Retail Research
• Visual Merchandising & space planning.

Final Level:
Total of 100 hours are devoted to contact classes while 240 hours (approx. 8 weeks) are focused on project work. The contact hours include the following units:

• Leadership and team dynamics
• Franchising & Virtual Retailing
• Mall & Shopping Centre Management.
• Project work & industry internship

The Project work is a 10,000 word original contribution to knowledge in a specific area of Retail Management related topics:

- Sales & Operations
- Visual Merchandising
- Merchandising
- Marketing

- Services Marketing
- Human Resources

This aims at giving students an opportunity to develop their chosen area of interest in very specific detail.

The Project work should demonstrate extensive knowledge in the selected topic area with a critical approach and a clear understanding of the relevant business research methods and the ability to use and apply these methods. In particular, the research associated with this piece of work should deploy both secondary and primary research techniques.

Students are encouraged to select topics, which may be used in future or on returning to employment.

How do you get selected?
It based on your application, you ore found eligible, you will need to quality in on entrance examination conducted by Indian Retail School, followed by a group discussion and an interview. Admission is based strictly on merit, judged from year performance in the written examination and interview.
